Khizar Humayun Ansari

Professor Khizar Humayun Ansari is a British academic who was awarded an OBE in 2002 for his work in the field of race and ethnic relations.

Professor Ansari has a PhD from the University of London. Since 1990, he has been the Director of the Centre for Ethnic Minority Studies, a research centre based at Royal Holloway, University of London, which provides advice and carries out research on racial equality in the workplace and in society. He is also a Senior Lecturer in Royal Holloway's Department of History.

Professor Ansari has worked for many years in the community and through research and training to improve race relations in Britain, focusing on both enhancing the skills of ethnic minorities and breaking down negative attitudes and stereotypes in society. In 1987, he became the Director of the Slough Industrial Language Centre. He has also served in a voluntary capacity in positions ranging from a committee of the Judicial Studies Board, to the Chairmanship of the Board of Management of the Slough Citizens Advice Bureau. Professor Ansari has advised numerous bodies by helping people develop the skills to operate effectively in a multi-cultural environment; designing services which are accessible and of equal quality for all, regardless of ethnic origin; and promoting the benefits of diverse workforces to business and to state services.
